REVIEW: Tiger’s Milk – a must-visit dinning gem in Alberton

Share

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Tiger’s Milk Kitchen and Bar, located in the bustling Newmarket Lifestyle Centre in Alberton. This trendy spot is part of a chic 33,600m² mixed-use new development, which stands on the historic grounds of the old Newmarket Racecourse. The location is not only convenient but also adds a touch of historical charm to your dining experience.

Upon our arrival, the ambiance immediately struck us as both casual and vibrant, perfect for both a lively group dinner or a more intimate dining experience. As we settled into our comfortable seating, the lively buzz of the restaurant created a sense of anticipation among us. The lighting was perfectly dimmed to offer a warm and welcoming glow, enhancing the overall ambiance and making our dining experience even more delightful. The background music was a well-curated mix of classic hits and contemporary tunes, contributing to the energetic yet relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant.

The service was exceptional right from the start, with our very friendly waiter ensuring that every aspect of our meal was seamless and enjoyable. He was knowledgeable about the menu, offering recommendations tailored to our tastes and dietary preferences, which was greatly appreciated. His attentiveness and prompt responses to our requests made us feel well taken care of throughout our evening.

The menu at Tiger’s Milk is a captivating fusion of bold flavours and hearty dishes. We began our culinary journey with an array of appetisers that were as visually appealing as they were delicious. The chipotle chicken livers were a standout, perfectly balanced with smokiness and spice, served with freshly toasted ciabatta to sop up the creamy sauce. The grilled calamari with roasted garlic aioli brought a wonderful lightness to the start of our meal.

The lamb attack – a gourmet brioche boerie roll filled with lamb sausage and topped with an array of condiments like house-made chimichurri and roast garlic mayo – was both innovative and satisfying. The smokey rib fiesta taco, featuring tender beef short rib and sharp emmenthal cheese, rounded out our starters with a burst of flavour.

As we moved on to the mains, the libre gourmet burger was a revelation. The lamb patty was juicy and flavourful, enhanced by the rich emmenthal cheese and a crunchy layer of corn chips, all brought together with a tangy chimichurri salsa. The f.a.b.u.l.o.u.s pizza lived up to its name with a perfect combination of bacon, avocado, and feta, making each bite a delightful mix of flavours and textures. For the seafood lovers among us, the prawns in Mozambican peri-peri sauce were a highlight, offering a spicy kick that was both bold and irresistible.

Our dining experience at Tiger’s Milk Kitchen and Bar was both enjoyable and memorable. The combination of friendly service, a lively atmosphere, and a menu packed with flavourful dishes makes it a must-visit destination in Alberton’s dining scene. Whether you’re in the mood for a casual meal or a festive gathering with friends, Tiger’s Milk provides the perfect backdrop for a fabulous dining experience. We left feeling completely satisfied and eager to return for another round of their delightful offerings.
