Dining at NH Hotel, nestled in the heart of Sandton, was an experience that truly left us captivated from start to finish. From the moment we stepped inside, we were welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere, setting the stage for an unforgettable meal. The attention to detail in both the ambiance and service made us feel right at home, while the expertly crafted dishes kept us eagerly anticipating each course. Every bite was a testament to the quality and creativity that the restaurant prides itself on, and the overall experience was one we won’t soon forget.

The service was exceptional – attentive, friendly, and professional without being intrusive. The staff made us feel right at home, guiding us through the menu and ensuring every need was met with a smile. Throughout the meal, they struck the perfect balance of being present when needed, yet never overwhelming. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, offering thoughtful recommendations and answering our questions with genuine enthusiasm.

Our culinary experience began with an appetizer which was a true standout: the beef tartare. This perfectly prepared dish was a delicate balance of tender, finely chopped beef, seasoned with just the right amount of spices, and paired with a few simple yet complementary garnishes. The freshness of the beef offered a delightful start to our meals, preparing our palates for what was to come.

We then moved to two exceptional starters. The tuna tartare was a delightful combination of fresh, vibrant flavours, paired with creamy avocado, leek ragout, caper popcorn, and white anchovies. Each element added its own twist, making it a refreshing and exciting dish. Equally impressive was the cured salmon, which was complemented by a tangy pear chutney, smooth wasabi aioli, pickled radish, and crispy rice paper. The textures and flavours worked perfectly together, setting the tone for what was to come.

To accompany our starters, we opted for a Tequila Sunrise and a Virgin Colada. Both drinks were expertly crafted – the Tequila Sunrise was refreshingly citrusy with a subtle sweetness, while the Virgin Colada offered a tropical escape without the alcohol, making for a perfect non-alcoholic option.

For the mains, we were spoiled for choice. The beef tomahawk was a showstopper – beautifully cooked, juicy, and tender, paired with a rich mushroom sauce and creamy mash. The Surf and Turf was another highlight, with a perfectly grilled beef fillet and succulent king prawns that were complemented by a flavourful potato fondant, baby carrots, and thyme jus. We also enjoyed the Kingklip, grilled to perfection with a fragrant curry sauce, gooseberry chutney, and broccolini. Each main was thoughtfully prepared, showcasing an impressive balance of flavours and textures.

Dessert was the perfect end to our meal. The deconstructed lemon tart was a beautiful combination of dehydrated meringue, smooth lemon curd, candied lemon zest, vanilla crumble, and refreshing lemongrass sorbet. It was a citrus lover’s dream, with each bite offering a different layer of flavour. We also had the pear and thyme pudding, which was rich and comforting. The vanilla ice cream, cardamom, and cream anglaise paired beautifully with the pear gel and vanilla crumble, creating a perfect balance of sweetness and spice.

Overall, dining at NH Hotel was a truly exceptional experience. The thoughtful presentation and bold, exciting flavours made every dish memorable. Whether you’re looking for a sophisticated evening out or a special place to celebrate, NH Hotel offers a dining experience that is sure to impress. We can’t wait to return for another round of these delicious creations!
