In a bold move to address the increasing cost of dining out, Sec Restaurant has introduced a new Bring-Your-Own (BYO) policy for high spirits. This unique offering allows food lovers and wine enthusiasts to pair their favourite bottles with delicious dishes – all without any corkage fee!
This revolutionary move, limited to one bottle per guest, applies exclusively to wine and bubbly, and requires guests to order their own plate of food (no shared plates). Designed with both individual diners and larger groups in mind, the policy is also set to attract large bookings for Sec’s elegant function room, where the cost of wine and bubbly often elevates the overall bill which can mean that marking a special occasion becomes prohibitively expensive.
“We feel your pain,” said Sec’s Executive Chef and founder Dario de Angeli, reflecting on the financial pressures of eating out. “This policy was inspired by our desire to make eating out more accessible while still delivering the high-end experience which is a trademark of dining at Sec. We want our guests to enjoy a meal in a restaurant as well as celebrate life’s special moments with their cherished bottles whether it’s a vintage champagne or a favourite local wine without the burden of added costs.”
Enhance Your Dining Experience
A Dining Experience Like No Other
More than just a policy shift, this initiative is part of Sec’s mission to create unforgettable culinary moments at a restaurant. Located in the heart of Rosebank, Sec Restaurant invites guests to “take a sec” to relax, indulge, and savour every detail. Inspired by the name of Veuve Clicquot’s dry champagne, Sec speaks to the art of taking time to appreciate life’s finer things.
With this BYO policy, Sec Restaurant is redefining the dining experience in Johannesburg blending luxury, personalisation, and accessibility in a way that truly resonates with modern diners.
